Tropical Retreat. Self-contained, air-conditioned, B&B bungalows on a picturesque 30-acre property near Daintree National Park. The perfect hideaway for honeymooners, birdwatchers, nature-lovers or for a relaxing interlude during a busy holiday schedule. Eight kilometres beyond Daintree Village, at the end of a scenic valley trail lies this peaceful haven, alive with tropical birds and butterflies and filled with tropical gardens, rainforest, tropical fruit trees and easy walking tracks. Each cabin is in a private spot with a verandah overlooking the wetlands-dam, tropical gardens and rainforest and has a queen-size bed, convertible sofa for one extra adult, microwave, cooktop, fridge, also air-conditioner and ceiling fan and is fully insect-screened. (Please note there are no facilities for children under 12.) No passing traffic, TVs or radios - and your mobile phone will only work in Daintree Village, 8km away. All you will hear will be bird song and the gentle sounds of the rainforest. A birdwatcher's heaven with over 120 seasonal species sighted on the property. Butterflies galore including the beautiful blue Ulysses and the Cairns Birdwing, Australia's largest butterfly. Wonderful star-gazing on crystal clear nights! A complimentary daily breakfast basket is supplied and includes a platter of home-grown tropical fruits and locally-grown coffee and tea. Bring your own supplies and dine at home in your cabin or on the barbeque in the historic old open shed - perhaps have a dip in the jacuzzi while you cook your dinner! Self-cook meals and drinks are also available. Or dine out at one of several restaurants near Daintree Village. Far from the madding crowd yet convenient for all the beautiful region’s activities – Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge, Port Douglas and the Cairns Highlands are each within a 1-2 hour drive. Your resident hosts, Peter and Daphne, are always available to help with local information, and bookings if necessary, but the emphasis is upon your privacy. |
