An elegant city hotel with a country house atmosphere, within easy walking distance of York's many attractions. Built at the end of the 19th Century for a local mill owner, the hotel still retains its charm and character today. Murals, frescoes and a magnificent oak staircase leading to a gallery with stained glass windows, are just a few of the fine examples of Art Nouveau décor in this magnificent building.

Stylish dining in the intimate atmosphere of the Elmbank's restaurant is an indulgence not to be missed. The mouth watering menus are complemented by an excellent and comprehensive wine list, all served by attentive but unobtrusive staff. A beautifully restored bar offers refreshments and lunchtime snacks, whilst morning coffee and afternoon tea can be taken in the relaxing and pleasant atmosphere of the lounge.

Art galleries and theatres are among the tourist attractions, with street performers and market traders all contributing to a unique atmosphere.
