From the airport by car/taxi - ECP, exit for Rochor Road, head straight for Rochor Canal Road, at junction before Serangoon Road, make U-turn to Sungei Road. Keep to the left of Sungei Road, almost immediately after TEKKA MALL, you will see Perak Road. By MRT from the airport, you will have to alight at EW12 (BUGIS MRT). Walk towards the direction of Rochor Road/Rochor Canal Road. As soon as you see SIM LIM SQUARE, across the canal is Sungei Road. Walk towards the direction of TEKKA MALL and you should be able to see a side street, which is Perak Road. |

Little India is a fairyland of gaily-decorated streets and shops bustling with shoppers from around the world. The religious momuments, quaint shophouses, wonderful array of traditional food and ethnic goods ranging from Indonesian batiks, silk saris, jasmine garlands and orchids provide an interesting insight into the cultural harmony of Singapore. Little India is a haven for Indian cuisine. With numerous restaurants serving North and South India dishes, hungry shoppers will be spoilt for choice from breakfast food such as crispy pratas and delicious Dhosai to mouth-watering fishead curry and aromatic bryiani rice. Capture the colour and vibrancy of Indian celebrations, such as the festival of Theemidhi (Fire walking) ceremony (October), where devotees walk over burning coal, and be mesmerized by the "kavadi" procession during Thaipusam (January) where devotees pierce their bodies with long needles and take a 4km walk along the streets from Serangoon Road to Tank Road. |
