Balgownie House, exclusive boutique accommodation located just outside of Bendigo, is nestled within the picturesque grounds of Balgownie Estate Winery and Vineyard. Classically restored to its former glory, the 80 year-old cottage consists of two contemporary retreats (or suites) of the highest standard. Here you can unwind and enjoy absolute relaxation in your self-contained contemporary accommodation, with separate lounge and dining, spacious bedroom and ensuite with spa.

Retreat to the sanctuary of your private Balgownie House suite, wander down to the Cellar Door for a leisurely lunch and wine tasting or venture out to explore the wonderful architecture, galleries and museum which all reflect the prosperity of this former gold rush region.

Should you want to stay in and soak up the ambience of the cottage and surrounds, gourmet platters are available on request, from our Cellar Door so you can relax and enjoy a meal while you watch the sun set over the vineyard. The platters serve 2 at a cost of $39.00. Please note: these must be ordered in advance when booking your room.

Getting There Departing from Bendigo Visitor Information Centre in Bendigo's CBD, head towards Melbourne and take your first right at the fountain into View St. At the first set of traffic lights turn left into Barnard St and follow this road until the next set of lights and veer right into Eaglehawk Road. At the next set of traffic lights turn left towards Marong/Mildura (A79). (Just so you know you are on the right road you will notice a motorcycle shop on the corner of the traffic lights and a a large spotlight store.) Continue on this road through the Maiden Gully township and 1km further on you will notice signage directing you to turn right into Hermitage Road for Balgownie Estate.

Sample award winning wines at the cellar door, relax and indulge in the gourmet delights of the cafe while taking in the ambient surrounds of the estate vineyard and it's seasonal array of colours.

Dinner on the Cafe Tram Bendigo - Take in the sites of the extravagant Victorian-era Architecture at night while enjoying an intimate fine dining experience in Australia's first ever Cafe Tram.

Melville Caves - Named after the gentleman bushranger who used to hide out there. The Melville caves offers some great walking tracks, picnic areas, wonderful views, and of course, caves to explore.
