Business FacilitiesConvention FacilitiesOur Convention Facilities have seating for up to 180 delegates and we can provide break-out rooms as well as an auditorium. Two Hotels, the luxurious Desert Cave Hotel and the lively Opal Inn Hotel, accommodate delegates according to their preference and budget and the distinctly different restaurants of the two Hotels create memorable dining experiences. Experiences such as discovering the wonders of Coober Pedy, or sipping Champagne Cocktails at sunset, as the Breakaways become mysteriously alive with light, simply cannot be discovered anywhere else in Australia and so your conference becomes unique. We will assist you in experiencing the magic of this destination to create an event that your delegates will never forget. The Convention Room seats: 120 Banquet Style 180 Theatre Style The Convention room has a stage, dance floor and bar facilities. We can provide a variety of equipment and services such as VHS and Monitor, OHPs and screens, private telephone lines, flower arrangements, musicians, secretarial/support services, reception services etc., and we are able to cater for various set-ups. | Getting There |
The Desert Cave Hotel is located in the centre of Coober Pedy and is easily found along Hutchison Street. There currently is NO TAXI service in Coober Pedy and you can organise Airport, Bus and Train transfers with and to the Desert Cave Hotel when making your booking. |

Venture down a former working mine to see opal traces embedded in the sandstone. * You also visit the Breakaways, a range of colourful landscapes with exposed sandstone outcrops - spectacular views over the Moon Plain - once an inland sea. This dramatically beautiful area has been the scene for many internationally known movies. * The famous Dog Fence (dingo fence) - stretching 5,300 km across Australia. * The Serbian Underground Church - spectacular excavation, tradtional Serbian Orthodox architecture and fascinating sandstone carvings. * A genuine underground home...see how the locals live. * Underground Potteries. * Opal cutting demonstration - professional advice on opal quality and price.
