Just 90 minutes from Auckland, 30 minutes from Whangarei and 5 minutes from Waipu, and 3 minutes to Waipu Cove with ten kilometers of sandy beach to explore. Waipu has a unique story of its founding by a Rev Norman Mcleod and his followers who left Scotland in 1817, sailing to Nova Scotia where they perservered for over 30 years before stories of a better life in Australia led the colony to build ships to sail to Adelaide. After searching for a suitable site for a potentially large migrant group, the group looked at New Zealand, and eventually a small band of settlers stepped ashore at Waipu in 1854. The Heritage centre in Waipu has an impressive display of items and memorabilia from early days. there are also two heritage trails to follow by foot or car. Waipu has Restaurants, cafes, and numerous attractions and activities close by. Continental or cooked breakfast included in tariff. We prefer to use our own or organic produce when available. |
