| Things To Do |
Chinatown is the best visited cultural area in Singapore by tourists and locals alike. You will still find quaint shophouses in the architectural styles of yore that now retail traditional Chinese medicines, souvenirs, favourite local foods both at the shops as well as along the streets. The main difference is that these street hawkers, said to be from among the best in Singapore, now adhere to strict hygiene standards. Even though Chinatown was zoned by the colonial masters then for Chinese immigrants, you will find nestled in the midst of the lanes in Chinatown, the Sri Mariamman Indian Temple as well as the Jumae (Green) Mosque next to it. |
