BY CAR : From A1, way out "Porte de la Chapelle" straight on to the subway bridge. Turn right, follow the subway bridge to Bld Rochechouart. Take this bld untill the theater La Cigale, at the lights, turn right in rue des Martyrs and turn 1st left in rue des Abbesses to place des Abbesses. The Hotel is located on the square. BY RER : From Roissy CDG airport, take line B, get off "Gare du Nord". From "Gare du Nord" return at "By Metro". BY TUBE: The hotel is located close by the subway station "Abbesses" line 12. from "Gare du Nord" take line 4, direction "Porte de Clignancourt", change at station "Marcadet Poissonniers" for line 12, direction "Mairie d'Issy" and get off at "Abbesses" TAKE THE ELEVATOR. |

ABBESSES AREA : A picturesque village where legendary sights - Sacré-Coeur, Moulin Rouge, Bateau-Lavoir - deliciously adjoin a colorful market, typical bistrots, costermonger, ivy façades and hidden squares, Montmartre’s Butte is definitely a must. The name of "Abbesses" area comes from 1133 because of the King Louis IV le Gros and Adélaïde de Savoie, his wife. They've decided to build a convent of relegious on "Le Tertre". The hotel is located in the heart of this charming village hang on the hill of Butte Montmartre where “Amélie Poulain” movie has been shooted. You will be close by Place du Tertre and the painters. Moulin Rouge, Bateau Lavoir, Musée de Montmartre are near the food market Lepic-Abbesses with many bistrots, lovely terrace cafés, fashion shops... PLACE ABBESSES: The place was the entrance of the convent where Henry IV (with a part of his army) was waiting to be allowed to enter inside Paris. The convent has been destroyed during the french revolution. BASILIQUE OF SACRÉ CŒUR : Has been built from 1876 untill 1914 (architect : ABADIE). it was in purpose to reconcile the nation after the terrible events of "La Commune" in 1871. Along the middle of 19th to the beginning of the 20th century, many famous painters, writers, singers etc. loved the free spirit of the hill from where you overlook Paris. STAIRS OF THE BUTTE : The famous stairs of the "Butte Montmartre" song by Aristide Bruant will take you to place du Tertre where you'll find the painters, cafés and terraces. |
