| Things To Do |
If you like to snow-ski in winter, Ben Lomond Ski Resort is just a short distance away. Trout fishing in season is within easy reach of Motel. Ross is a district rich in history, boasting the third oldest and possibly the most beautiful convict-built bridge in Australia with its unique convict carvings. Explore the craft shops, soak up the village atmosphere while enjoying street dining in one of the many bakeries/cafes. It is also the home of one of the rarest female convict establishments in the world (Female Factory site), where archaeologists have found remains - still untouched by man, since it's demise in the 19th century. The Ross Bridge is one of Australia's finest monuments. It took over 3 years to build and was finally opened by Governor Arthur in October 1836, it stands as an example of craftsmanship seldom equalled. The arches contain 186 stones depicting Celtic symbols interspersed with images of notable personalities and carvings of animals. |
