All meals are served in the beautiful surrounds of the open-air dining room, overlooking the pool and gardens. The atmosphere is sociable and relaxed and guests can mingle and get to know each other over a bottle of wine. ******** Our flight transfer leaves from Hinterland Aviation at Cairns Airport at 9.00am each morning with guests arriving at the Lodge around 10.45am. On departure guests leave the Lodge at 9.00am, arriving back into Cairns at approx 11.00am. Please check the inclusions of offers to make sure your transfers are included in yoru package. Upon booking, you will also need to advise us (via the Guest Comments section on the booking form) of the where you are staying the night before so that we can make arrangements for your transfers. We arrange transfers from Cairns, Cairns Beaches or Palm Cove only. |

We arrange transfers from Cairns, Cairns Beaches or Palm Cove only. The 2 hour journey from Cairns to Bloomfield is in itself a thrilling experience. It begins with a complimentary transfer from guests Cairns or Northern Beaches accommodation to our VIP lounge at the Hinterland Aviation Terminal, looking out over the International Airport. A 35 minute scenic flight follows the Queensland coastline with the fringing reefs and tiny islands of the Coral Sea to the right and the untouched wilderness of the Daintree Rainforest to the left. Landing on an outback airstrip, guests are met by Bloomfield's friendly staff and escorted on a short trip by unsealed road to the banks of the Bloomfield River. From here, our launch cruises downriver to the sea and across Weary Bay to Bloomfield Lodge, nestling almost unseen in the rainforest. The final touch in this unique little adventure comes as the boat lets down wheels and is pulled ashore for the driest of landings and a cooling drink, whilst the magic of Bloomfield takes over. |
| Parking |
Transfers from Cairns are included in package, however some guests do wish to self-drive to the region. We can offer complimentary parking in our vehicle sheds on the northern side of the Bloomfield River, boat transfers can be arranged from there. From Cape Tribulation a 4WD is required to complete the journey, however please be aware that the coast road can become impassable, even in a 4WD, in wet weather. If you have driven to Cairns we can offer secure parking at Hinterland Aviation. |
| Things To Do |
An informative guided rainforest walk is included in your accommodation package. Bloomfield is situated in one of the most naturally diverse places on earth and is home to many rare and endangered plant and animal species. Our guided rainforest walks offer a fascinating insight into the secrets of the tropical rainforest. Also included is a relaxing cruise along the Bloomfield River. Our experienced guides are mines of information about the local area and will be able to point out some of the magnificent bird life or even a crocodile or two! Try your luck throwing a line off the jetty. Bait and tackle and a word of advice are complimentary. For the more dedicated angler we can offer optional boat fishing. Kangaji Beach is a secluded bay an hour’s walk through the rainforest from the Lodge. It is an idyllic spot to stroll, beach comb and imagine yourself as Robinson Crusoe for a few hours. Take a gourmet picnic lunch along, the only footprints in the sand will be yours! If you would like to explore further afield we do have a number of optional tours available. One of our most popular activities is a full day trip to the reef where we can, depending on the day out, offer snorkelling, fishing and diving. If you are looking for an idyllic spot for a picnic, a trip to one of the local waterfalls could be the perfect answer. Otherwise we can offer you some unique history with a full day trip to the old pioneer town of Cooktown. You may just prefer to laze around the poolside taking in the relaxed atmosphere of the Lodge and its surroundings. |
