Elysia is far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city to connect you to nature, but not so far from the big centres that a shorter stay is impossible. Just 90 minutes north west of Sydney, Elysia is situated like a citadel atop a large, rolling hill to take advantage of the magnificent views and the Brokenback mountain range. As soon as you approach the Retreat, taking in the fresh air and the lush vistas of the countryside, you’ll notice that you’re beginning to relax and unwind. By the time you reach your destination and enter the Retreat, you’ll be ready to leave the mundane world behind and begin a healing journey that will soothe and balance the mind, body and spirit. Travelling by Car Directions to The Golden Door – Elysia (from Sydney) - From the centre of Sydney, cross the Harbour Bridge and proceed along the Pacific Highway to the National 1 (F3) Freeway at Wahroonga - Travel north towards Newcastle (approximately 1 hour ) 100km - Turn off freeway at Cessnock/Kurri Kurri exit (Highway 82) and follow signs to Cessnock (15 mins) - Proceed through Cessnock to Allandale Road following signs to Branxton - As you enter Cessnock along Aberdare Road, turn right at the first set of traffic lights onto Vincent Street - Turn left at traffic lights onto Wollombi Road (following directional signs to Branxton – still Highway 82) and then first right at the traffic lights onto Allandale Road, passing swimming pool on the left and McDonalds restaurant on the right - Proceed along Allandale Road, 5km out of Cessnock you will pass Cessnock Airport and the Visitor Information Centre on the left - Turn left 500 metres past the airport into Broke Road - Follow Broke Road for 3km to T-intersection - Turn left at T-intersection onto McDonalds Road. Remain on this road and turn right onto Thompsons Road after Brokenwood and Tamburlaine wineries - Follow Thompsons Road (passing Cypress Lakes Resort on your left). Proceed for 1.5km and take your first left following the directional signs to Elysia Directions to The Golden Door – Elysia (from Newcastle Airport) - As you leave the airport carpark, turn left and follow this road to the main road, which is Nelson Bay Road - Turn right and follow until you come to a roundabout and turn right onto Tomago Road, which will take you to Hexham - Follow this road to a large T intersection and turn left to Hexham - Over the Hexham Bridge, turn right at traffic lights towards Maitland/Cessnock - Approximately 5km, take the exit to Kurri Kurri/Cessnock, following this road all the way through to Cessnock - Once you have entered Cessnock turn right at the traffic lights onto Allandale Road, passing swimming pool on the left and McDonalds restaurant on the right - Proceed along Allandale Road, 5km out of Cessnock you will pass Cessnock Airport and the Visitor Information Centre on the left - Turn left 500 metres past the airport into Broke Road - Follow Broke Road for 3km to T-intersection - Turn left at T-intersection onto McDonalds Road. Journey is approximately 1 hour from Newcastle Airport. Travelling by Air - Domestic airlines operate services into Newcastle Airport from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We can arrange limousine transfers from Sydney or Newcastle Airports to Elysia with prices starting from $135 (based on a one way service from Newcastle Airport to Elysia).
