Huntley House provides guests with an unsurpassable Christchurch experience. An historic homestead, belonging to one of the city’s earliest settlers, Huntley House has been lovingly restored and is a fine example of late 19th century architecture. Surrounded by 2 acres of mature gardens, guests enjoy a peaceful, tranquil haven just 10 minutes from both the central city and airport. It is the perfect base from which to explore Christchurch or venture further afield for a variety of exciting day trips – to Akaroa, a delightful French coastal settlement; Waipara Vineyards, to sample stunning Pinot Noir; or to Russley Golf Course for a round on one of New Zealand’s stunning championship courses. Huntley House has 17 rooms and suites, along with dining and bar facilities, a superb library and a Billiard room. There are four homestead rooms, four garden rooms, four garden suites, two two-bedroom garden suites and one nautically themed cabin. Fresh flowers, fruit, housemade cookies and nightly turndown with mineral water and chocolate are offered with some of our packages. Our menu changes daily and we will happily adapt it to suit any special requests - just let us know. We welcome children at the property and have many activities that will amuse them such as, a portable playstation, large screen TV in the Billiard Room, heated swimming pool, croquet and petanque. We have a classic car collection available for hire by the day or for longer periods. |

| Getting There |
Huntley House is situated at 67 Yaldhurst Road in Upper Riccarton, which is conveniently situated 10 minutes in either direction from both the City Centre and International Airport, 15 if the traffic is heavy into town. DIRECTIONS FROM THE AIRPORT *As you leave the airport turn right at the roundabout on to Russley Road. Follow Russley Road and turn left on Yaldhurst Road. Because of the median strip you will need to overshoot Huntley House on your right and do a U turn just before the lights beside Villa Maria School. *Take the second road on the left which is called Haineswood Lane. *As you go up this picturesque lane you will find Huntley House on the right hand side. DIRECTIONS TO THE AIRPORT *As you leave Haineswood Lane turn left *When you come to the second set of lights, turn right onto Russley Road *At the first roundabout you come to on Russley Road turn left *You will see Christchurch International Airport in front of you DIRECTIONS TO CHRISTCHURCH CATHEDRAL (CITY CENTRE) *As you leave Haineswood Lane turn left (make sure you get into right hand lane) *200 metres on your right is a turning lane, take this and do a 180o turn (heading back down Yaldhust Road) Follow Yaldhurst Road to Riccarton Road *You will pass Westfield Mall as you keep going along this road *At the end of this road go straight ahead over the roundabout, on to Riaccarton Ave. *You will pass Christchurch Hospital on your left *At the third set of lights after the hospital turn left onto Oxford Terrace *Turn Right at Worcester Street (Rydges Hotel is on the corner) *The Cathedral is right in front of you. *For in town parking don’t turn into Worcester Street, but carry on passed Rydges Hotel and there are two multi storey parks on your right hand side. DIRECTIONS FROM CHRISTCHURCH CATHEDRAL (CITY CENTRE) *As you approach the Cathedral turn left onto Colombo Street *At the first set of lights turn left onto Gloucester Street *Carry on through to the last set of lights where you will turn right onto Park terrace *At the second set of lights turn a sharp left onto Harper Avenue towards Riccarton *Make sure you are in the left hand lane *Before the second set of lights there is a turning lane to the left, take this onto Deans Avenue *At the first roundabout turn right onto Riccarton Road *Keep going along this road, you will pass Westfield Shopping Centre on your left *When you see Countdown Supermarket on your left make sure you get into the right hand lane *Carry on round to your right onto Yaldhurst Road and get into the left hand lane * Go through the first set of lights and take the second turning on your left. This is Haineswood Lane *Huntley House is on your right hand side |
