The Albion Motel is in Castlemaine-Wesley Hill where the richest field of alluvial gold was discovered in 1851.The Albion Hotel opened on Dec.13 1858 by Lewis HARRIES , some say, paid for from the gold found digging the cellar.The Albion MOTEL is of recent construction. The Motel,of sevenrooms, is separated from the Hotel and faces a national park of old gold diggings. They are styled as miner's cottages with peak roof and 2 on the first floor with parking under. They are modern, stilish and individually designed with all the modern comforts. The guest can take advantage of the wine bar, with a BIG choice of local wines and bistro, with ever changing multinational menu. The Bar, Bistro and gardens are fifty meters away from the rooms.When you enter the Albion compound, park your car in front of your room or under cover. Room service is available with prior notice. |

Coming from Melbourne:From Tullamarine airport,follow the indication "BENDIGO" and/or "CALDER HWAY" Exit the Calder Hway to the indication of Castlemaine, 450 meters after the "Welcome to Castlemaine" sign, on a hill (Wesley Hill)on the left end side, is the ALBION. If you enter Castlemaine from ANY other direction, follow the sign for Melbourne, THE ALBION will be on your RIGHT . By train, you will arrive at the station , please contact THE ALBION to organise transport, the railway station is approx 1.8 K. from the Albion. |
