The Shady Rest Motel is a 3½ Star AAA rated 18 room motel that has recently been completely refurbished. We are conveniently located close to the centre of town, opposite the tennis courts with close proximity to local restaurants, clubs, hotels and hospitals.

At the Shady Rest we offer friendly personal service with clean, comfortable, value for money accommodation.

We are the friendly home away from home for people who are in Gympie for an extended stay or are stopping overnight while travelling to destinations north or south.

The Motel is a block back from the Bruce Highway, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, with owners living on-site you are assured a great stay.

Getting There	Travelling by car from the north along the Bruce highway - turn left at the third set of traffic lights into Cross Street. Travel about 50 metres and turn left again into Violet Street. This is a cul-de-sac street. We are at number 17. Coming from the south along the highway come through the heart of Gympie and at the next set of traffic lights past the KFC, turn right into Cross Street then left into Violet Street.
Parking	Free undercover parking. Large vehicle parking (trucks and buses) available. If this is required please call first to get directions of where to park.
Things To Do	Gympie is a vibrant and thriving regional city and caters for travellers and tourists. The iconic Mary Valley Rattler steam train draws tens of thousands of visitors from across Australia and internationally. The Gympie Gold Rush of the late 1800's saved Queensland from bankruptcy. Gympie was founded on Gold mining with it being the backbone of the town’s wealth for the better part of the 20th century. See our city's heritage on display at the Gold and Historic museum at Lake Alford. Gympie has a rich history of timber harvesting. Visit the working Woodworks museum for a terrific working display of steam driven saw milling. Gympie Regional art gallery hosts regular local and interstate art exhibitions. Always a get away to pass a few hours with the friendly gallery staff!
