Nestled on the bank of a small lily-filled lake near Emerald Beach 16km north of Coffs Harbour, tucked away between paperbark trees, that's where you will find the elegant Lake Russell Gallery and Luxury Retreat. Its two very private and luxurious self-contained cottages offer a tranquil retreat from the stresses of everyday life. They are just a short stroll along a lakeside path from Lake Russell Gallery, which showcases paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, glass and wood forms by some of the region's best artists. You will be able to wander around the four levels of the gallery and muse over the artists' works, which are all for sale. In addition to a permanent display of artworks, Lake Russell Gallery also holds periodical exhibitions. The upcomming exhibition features the works of Shellie Kelly and Merryl Neylon. If you were tempted to buy one of the beautiful artworks on display, what could be better than to simply retreat to your private cottage next door and sleep on it before making a final decision on your purchase or better still, take it to your room and admire it in private but before calling it a day, spend some time in your private spa, listen to a cd or just gaze at the lake. Packages include a scrumptious breakfast hamper for two, and throughout the day you can sit down and enjoy freshly brewed coffees and teas with homemade cakes or scones in the lakeside garden of the gallery's delightful cafe. Lake Russell Gallery also holds regular events throughout the year that are designed to stimulate your creative senses, such as painting and drawing workshops and talks by prominent local and regional artists. It also occasionally presents musicians in its superb gardens, usually on a Sunday, but it is suggested you check with the gallery. Visitors looking for a longer break from the rat race of tourist haunts in nearby Coffs Harbour and Woolgoolga may prefer to stay in one of the two luxuriously appointed, self-contained and completely private cottages, that lie a short stroll along the lakeside path. These beautiful spaces, designed by an environmental design award winning architect, have to be seen to be believed,a warning though, once you see them - you may never want to leave..........
