Situated on 15 acres of natural bushland and gardens, Rawson Village is set in the foothills of the Great Diving Range, and is the gateway to the Walhalla and Mountain Rivers Trail. Just under two hours drive east of Melbourne, Rawson Village provides a relaxed, tranquil setting where guests can recharge their batteries in the clear, mountain air. Be absorbed in the natural environment, surrounded by tall timbers and wild birdlife. Guests are guaranteed quality accommdation in one of 20 rooms. 12 double rooms are AAA Tourism 3 star rated and feature floor to ceiling windows and a modern room layout. The glass bricked ensuites are spacious and airy. Each room also has a fold-out sofa/divan, and airconditioning. 8 rooms feature a combination of double and single beds, making them ideal for twin share and family stays. These AAA Tourism 3 star rooms are air-condtioned with cathedral style ceilings and spacious ensuites. All motel rooms have free wireless broadband Internet. At the end of a busy day of activities (or busy doing nothing at all!), relax in front of the open log fire and enjoy a fabulous meal prepared by our chefs in Leadbeaters Bar & Bistro, open seven days a week. The Bistro is open for breakfast and dinner. |

| Getting There |
An easy drive from Melbourne on sealed roads. Travel east on the Princes Highway,(M1) to Moe, then turn northwards and follow Tourism Route 91 towards Walhalla. Travel into the foothills for 25 minutes, through Erica and a couple of minutes further on, turning right, to Rawson. Rawson Village is situated on the right, at the first roundabout in town. |

The Walhalla & Mountain Rivers Trail provides a fascinating drive through some of Victoria's most spectacular scenery. Rawson Village is an ideal place to base your stay, to explore this magnificent region. From Rawson you can: * Take a ride across the spectacular Thomson River Bridge aboard the historic Walhalla Goldfields Railway(Wednesdays, weekends and school holidays) * Visit the Thomson Dam and marvel at this mighty engineering achievement. * Discover the beauty of Mushroom Rocks at Mt Erica, amongst tree ferns and waterfalls. * Relax, soak up the atmosphere and explore the historic gold township of Walhalla. * Go gold panning in Stringers Creek in Walhalla (yes, there's gold in these hills!) * Experience a tour through the Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine. * Fish for brown trout in the clear waters of the Thomson River. * During the snow season, visit Mt St Gwinear - the ideal place to go tobagganing and for children to play and build serious snowmen! There's great cross country skiing for the more experienced. * During Spring, you can enjoy a walk amongst the wild flowers, tall trees and tree ferns. * Take many delightful bush walks throughout the area, in the National and State Parks. |
