Cascades Colonial Accommodation C.1841, an exclusive attraction to guests only has been transformed form a convict jail that once housed up to 400 inmates to an amazing accommodation experience. It allows you to stay in either an 'Officers Quarters' lovingly restored into a cosy self contained cottage with an open fire place or a convict 'Workshop' that is now the luxury spa cottage with queen size bed, double spa and central heating. Cascades at Koonya is one of the Tasman Peninsula's best kept secrets. You stay 150m from the waterfront,have access to a private family museum and can explore other convict remains including a cell block and a mess hall. There are 2 stunning bushwalks on the property. One that follows the waterfront to the site of the convict jetty and another that follows a convict trail into the rainforest to the ruins of the convict saw mill and quarry site. This walk can also be done by horseback with our neighbour Sea View Horseriding. Cascades is 15km from the Port Arthur Historic Site and is also in a prime location to other attractions such as the Saltwater River Coal Mines, Tassie Devil Park and Tasman National Park. |

Luxury spa cottage
Bedding configuration is a queen size bed and a single bed in a middle room. Contains a double spa, 2 bathrooms, central heating, full size kitchen. Rates are for 2 people. Extra adults $25.00. Extra children $25.00. The room caters for a maximum of 3 adults, and a maximum of 2 children but cannot exceed 3 guests in total. The following bedding is provided:

Fully self contained cottage. 1 Queen size bed & 2 king single beds. 1 bathroom with shower in bath. Full size kitchen, electric heating in each room, open fireplace in lounge, laundry & BBQ. Rates are for 2 people. Extra adults $20.00. Extra children $20.00. The room caters for a maximum of 4 adults, and a maximum of 3 children but cannot exceed 4 guests in total. When arriving at reception, ring the doorbell. If nobody answers, use the reception phone to contact us. Your room key is on a hook with your name outside the reception door. Take your key and follow the directions to your room. |

| Getting There |
Cascades in Koonya is 100km from Hobart and 15km from Port Arthur. If coming by plane it is best to organise car hire in advance from the airport. From Sorell follow the A9 highway towards Port Arthur. At Taranna turn right after the Tasmanian Devil Park onto the B37 and travel 5km along the road to Koonya. Follow the signs to reception. |

| Things To Do |
Port Arthur Historic Site is 15km away. You can spend all day at the site and your entrance fee includes a walking tour and ferry ride around the bay. There is also a free historic site called the Saltwater River Coal Mines. There are many bushwalks in the Tasman National Park and surronding areas. The Tassie devil park is also worth visiting. They have a bird show and you can watch the devils being fed. Also available on the peninsula is diving, sea charters, seaplane rides, nature guiding, kyaking, golf and horse riding. |
