| Getting There |
The Spotted Chook Ferme Auberge is located 2.2km from Montville Post Office. When travelling by car from Brisbane follow Sunshine Coast Signs on the Bruce Hwy and take the glasshouse mountains tourist route. Then the Maleny/Landsborough turn off. At the top of the range, 5 kms before Maleny, turn right at the Montville sign. Travel 10kms and as you arrive in Montville turn off the main Montville road on to Western Ave, we are 1.8 km along on the left hand side. There is one taxi on the Range so it is best to book well ahead to use this service. The closest train station is Palmwoods, a 15minute drive away. Bus service with Sunstate is available from Brisbane Airport, the closest drop off is The Ettamogah Pub, just before Forest Glen. If you are needing assistance with transfers we are able to provide this at a fee. |

| Things To Do |
Montville Village is a short walk or drive away with its shops, galleries and restaurants. Enjoy wine tasting at one of the local wineries, including Settlers Rise which is within walking distance of The Spotted Chook. Lake Baroon with its picnic areas, playground and the gorge walk are just down the road or enjoy the rainforest walks on the property.Kondalilla Falls National Park and Mary Cairncross Scenic reserve are a short drive away and offer rainforest walks Maleny township is a 15 minute drive away, enjoy the atmosphere of this likeable country town, with its antique shops, galleries and coffee shops. Treat yourself to an icecream or a wide selection of gourmet cheeses at the award winning Colin James fine foods. Once a month on a Saturday the Maleny film society shows slightly off beat movies in the Community Hall, make a night of it and enjoy dinner there before the movie! Sailing and cayaking is available on the Maleny side of Lake Baroon during the summer months. Every Sunday, Maleny holds a craft market in the RSL hall. Other local market shopping opportunities include Yandina Markets - (25 minutes by car) on a Saturday morning. This market is fabulous for plants, produce and old wares. Explore the antique shops in Yandina while you are there. Eumundi markets are a 35 minute drive away, every Saturday and Wednesday morning from 6am until 2pm. You can expect lots of stalls with furniture, jewellery, clothing, fresh farm produce and more. Plenty of buskers to keep you entertained and some great food for when you get peckish. Kenilworth is about 45 minutes drive away, great for a day trip when you are staying a little longer. Stop by the river for a picnic lunch, visit the Cheese Factory, or meander the main street of this quaint country town. Even here there is a gallery and an antique shop! The Sunshine Coast with its fabulous beaches are only 30 minutes away, so you can take advantage of popping down for a swim in the ocean and return to the refreshing mountain air. Noosa is 50 minutes away, and again, perfect for a day trip on longer visits. Or, you can do as many of guests do and just relax on the verandah, reading the paper, enjoying the view, sipping Montville coffee or a glass of wine, watching the chooks wander around the paddocks. |
