On the cliff overlooking the black sands of Bethells Beach and the changing moods of the Tasman sea you will find 2 rustic cottages, a contemporary apartment and events pavilion amongst sublime gardens and 200 year old pohutakawa trees. Bethells Beach Cottagest is only 40 minutes drive directly west of Auckland city central we are eco friendly and private.
Your hosts Trude and John Bethell live by the motto “To give is to love and to love is to live”.
This is reflected in the “little touches” that make a stay at the cottages a very special experience.

| Getting there | FROM AUCKLAND: -Leave the city via the North Western Motorway (Highway 16). Exit left at Lincoln Road off ramp (next after Te Atatu exit) into Lincoln Rd, Waitakere City. -Continue along Linclon Rd turning right at the second set of traffic lights into Universal Drive (Pak’N Save Supermarket on the corner - LAST SUPERMARKET BEFORE BETHELLS BEACH). -Follow Universal Drive to the roundabout. As you drive around the round-about, take the second exit left into Swanson Road. Continue along Swanson Rd through Ranui and Swanson townships – (last shops to stock up on groceries). -Continue on Swanson Road to Scenic Drive North which climbs through the foothills of the Waitakere Ranges. -Pass Cassells Restaurant (on left) before slight S bend. Then turn right into Te Henga Road. Follow Te Henga Rd through Bethells Valley to eventual intersection with Bethells Road ( L-shape intersection. Do not turn right (Takes you into Waitakere township. Continue ahead along Bethells Road. Once over the second one lane bridge, continue over one speed bump and then follow the right hand bend towards the beach car park. -Before the beach car park look for our red-brown arrow which directs you left. Continue over the second speed bump and follow the sealed road to its end at the gate and a ‘Private Property – No Entry’ sign. - Turn in (left) Inside this gate you will see the Bethells Beach Cottages sign. Follow the unsealed drive up a steep hill, and then turn right at the second Bethells Beach Cottages sign into our driveway. -Our house is a red and beige house with white window trim. It is situated at the edge of the Bethells Beach Cottages property. Drive up to the house and we will take you down to your cottage. TRAIN: There are trains that go out to Swanson and Waitakere stations. |
