Stylish and fully refurbished Fairbank House, circa 1895, offers three bedrooms. The main queen bedroom has a bathroom; the second a double bedroom with ensuite with a walk-in shower; while the third, a twin, has the central spa bath and separate shower.
There's a large lounge with open fire and wall-hung digital TV, Foxtel/Showtime and DVD opening on to a covered heated deck for BBQ and dining. As well as the large fully-equipped kitchen, there's an older original kitchen which is now the dining room that easily seats eight for celebrations. WiFi internet service is free. There are extensive safe gardens for children or just soaking up the rays.
The house has ducted heating and cooling, and is as close to carbon neutral as we can get with green electricity, LPG for heating and cooking, and recycled water for the gardens. Fairbank caters for disabled guests as it's wheelchair friendly.
Fairbank House is just across the road from the Goldfields Railways steam train, with views from the traditional front verandah across the valley to Mt Alexander. It's 300m from the iconic shops, cafes and restaurants of Main St, and the Parks Victoria Gold Trail passes across the road so you can readily explore the diggings.
Maldon is Australia's First Notable Town, and part of the Taste of Gold food experience. It's situated on the side of Mt Tarrengower, and hosts a range of festivals several times each year. It's a highly friendly town, and the locals, who are usually volunteers for the town's activities, are really helpful.
Enjoy a quiet break, an activity-filled group or family stay, or for downsizers, take Fairbank for a week and invite guests for that special celebration!
