| Things to do | Ross is a historic village with many old sandstone houses and cottages dating back to the early 1800's. The Wool Centre is most interesting and provides a lot of information about the early days of this area. A Women's Convict Prison was situated in Ross and we boast the third oldest bridge in Australia. If you want to experience the ambience of a bygone era, Ross is the ideal village for this type of holiday. Situated on the Macquarie River, why not sit along the banks and have a picnic. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of the village. Ross is also ideally situated for easy access to the East Coast and the towns can be visited for a day's drive. The mountain lakes are ideal for fishing and are within a day's drive. Lake Leake, another fishing area, is quite handy for a day out picnicing or fishing. In fact, Ross is so centrally situated that the only part of Tasmania that is not accessible in a day's drive is the West Coast. So why not make Ross a jumping off point for a good part of your Tasmanian experience. |
