This magnificently appointed spacious holiday home offers two large living areas suitable for couples, families, friends or girls weekend to getaway, entertain and relax.
With spectacular views from the two balconies overlooking the Lower Murray and countryside, it is ideal for separate entertaining yet offering areas for quiet personal space.
Downstairs has one bedroom with a double bed, bathroom and toilet, open lounge, dining table with six chairs and a fully self-contained kitchen. There is underfloor heating if required. The house also has reverse cycle air conditioning.
Upstairs is carpeted with three bedrooms. Two bedrooms have queen size beds, while the third bedroom a single bed and a tri-bunk bed (double bed with single overhead).There is also a futon in lounge area.
The house has a bathroom/toilet plus an open layout dining/lounge area including a table with eight chairs and a lounge area. All bedding, linen, towels and tea towels are supplied. Extra blankets and pillows are available. All cooking utensils, plates, cups, cutlery and washing liquids etc are supplied as well as a portable gas BBQ.
Island Retreat is 85km south of Adelaide. It is located on the north side of Hindmarsh Island, only 5km from the lovely town of Goolwa which has fortnightly markets, river cruises and other local activities.
From the Island, visit the Murray mouth and try some fishing at Sugars Beach which can produce mullet, bream, salmon trout and mulloway.
A short drive on the Fleurieu Peninsula will reach Middleton a popular surfing beach, then to Port Elliot and a scenic walk around Horseshoe Bay. Venture a little further to Victor Harbour, a popular seaside town, and walk or take the horse tram over to Granite Island. Stroll around the Island to engulf the coastal views of Encounter Bay and the Great Southern Ocean.

| Getting there | STEP 1.From Adelaide Airport, exit on Sir Richard Williams Avenue. Turn right onto Sir Donald Bradman Drive and stay in the right lane. Turn right onto Marion Road (A14) Continue on the A14 for approximately 10km and then after crossing Sturt Rd, move to the right lane and (if open)veer right onto the M2 Southern Expressway. (See STEP 2 if closed) Continue on expressway for around 20km and then veer right onto Main South Road (A13). See STEP 4. (Weekends- Saturdays and Sundays open from 2.00am to 12.30pm travelling out of the city.) STEP 2. If the M2 is closed, pass the exit and veer right onto Main South Road (A13). See STEP 4. STEP 3. From the Adelaide CBD, head south on West Terrace(A21)and veer right onto Anzac Highway(A5).Continue on the A5 for approximately 2km and then turn left onto Main South Road(A13). See STEP 4. STEP 4.Continue on the A13 and cross over the Seaford Rd-Patapinda Rd intersection. Move over to left lane and veer left to continue on the A13. This is now the Victor Harbour Road. Stay on the A13, up Willunga Hill and eventually to the town of Mount Compass. Pass through the town and after about 3km, turn left onto the Mt Compass-Goolwa Road. Drive for approximately 15km and cross over a railway line just before the Strathalbyn-Goolwa T-junction. Turn right at the junction and head to Goolwa (5km). Drive through the town on Cadell Street, and near the end turn left at Goolwa Tce to Hindmarsh Island. Turn right at the roundabout and drive over the bridge onto Randell Road. After approximately 1km, turn left onto Captain Sturt Road (Scenic Drive) which veers around to Captain Sturt Pde. Continue down and the road changes to Batson Pde. Once you hit the T-Junction which is Monument Road, turn right and a sharp left onto Sidney Parade. Island Retreat is about 750m down at number 26. |
