| Getting there | BY CAR: From the city, follow the signs west to Parramatta. Take the M4 Motorway at Strathfield. (A small toll applies at the Sydney end of the M4). The M4 becomes the Great Western Highway as it rises through the Blue Mountains. Upon reaching Katoomba, take the main exit left off the highway, then turn left off the roundabout into Main Street. Go straight across the next roundabout and take the next right into Lurline Street. Continue along Lurline Street and take the fourth turn left into Merriwa Street at the Katoomba RSL Club. Mountain Top Cottage is at 42 Merriwa Street. The trip from the CBD to Katoomba is about 100Km and takes around 90 minutes. BY TRAIN: From Central Station you board an air-conditioned Blue Mountains train to Katoomba. Trains generally run at least every hour and the trip takes two hours. On arrival at Katoomba, walk down the ramp and turn right or take the elevator down and turn left. There are stairs, a ramp or an elevator to Main Street. A Taxi rank is in Main Street a few metres west from the top of the stairs. If walking, take the elevator or the ramp to street level. Walk a short distance (east) down the hill and turn right into Lurline Street at Kingsford Smith Park. Continue along Lurline Street and take the fourth turn left into Merriwa Street at the Katoomba RSL Club. Mountain Top Cottage is at 42 Merriwa Street. The walk will take about 15 minutes. |
