Yang Pu is a district within the lively city of Shanghai. A largely residential area, it has all the facilities and amenities necessary to make an area really liveable. It is within easy reach of the heart of the city and getting there and back is easy by public transport. Staying in the area is popular for people on a business trip and also for those who are looking to have fun and explore the city’s numerous attractions and sights.

Things to do

There are many students living in the Yang Pu area, which gives it a youthful and energetic vibe. You can find an abundance of reasonably priced places to eat and drink. Visit some of the different universities to see the local architecture and Chinese student life. There is an impressive statue of Mao Zedong within Fudan University and the Shanghai Institute of Physical Education is home to the Chinese Martial Arts Museum and the Wushu Museum. For some quiet time, head to the pretty Gongqing Forest Park where you will find walking trails in the forested areas, boat rides, mini-golf, exciting rides, and a mini railway. There is also a delightful bamboo garden nearby.

The Bund is nearby; the south part of the area is a mere four kilometres away. You can take a stroll along the pretty waterfront, enjoy a river boat cruise for different views of the city, and admire the many lovely buildings and different architectural styles that can be found here. The main business area, with its towering skyscrapers and ultra-modern feeling, is also close to hand. Shop ‘till you drop in some of the uber-trendy malls and stores, and visit the traditional markets for a glimpse into the Shanghai of yesteryear. Compare old and new and marvel at the blend of East meets West. It is no accident that Shanghai is one of Asia’s most popular cities!
