Hello Rene, Thank you for your time in placing your Review which now gives me the opportunity to respond to your claims as I was previously unable to do so as you would not take my calls or phone me as requested and my text messages were blocked at a later stage. We place a great importance on cleanliness in our accommodation businesses and ensure that our cottages are thoroughly cleaned after each guest vacates the premises. The cottage was cleaned after the previous guests and obviously also the bathroom and bath which was thoroughly cleaned and in good condition when the cleaner left after cleaning the accommodation. The fan in the bathroom is not hanging down. We obtain our linen from the Linen Service and these clean sheets and pillow cases are used to make up the bed before each new guest arrives. A text message arrived from you informing me that you had vacated the cottage resulting from finding 2 bites on your partners face with a photo showing 2 small bites with a similarity to mosquito bites on her face. To put your mind at rest, although the bites seemed quite insignificant, I immediately arranged for an inspection of the cottage. The mattress, sheets and pillow cases and all bedding was checked and no evidence of silverfish, insects or bugs in the bedding was found. Photographic evidence of the bedding was also taken. This information was then sent to you confirming the bites did not come from the bedding. My suggestion to you was that they appeared to be mosquito bites. At no stage did I infer you were carrying bed bugs in your clothes as bed bugs didn't exist. I did suggest the bites could have come from something in or on your clothing as they were not from the bed. Apologies for the smoke detector battery being missing - it was taken out by a previous guest and arrangements had been made before your arrival for it to be replaced. The smoke detector is electronically connected and not reliant on the battery for operation and was operational during your stay. All other smoke detectors in the cottage are also electronically connected. Our accommodation has been running for years and we enjoy the opportunity of providing guests with a pleasant and enjoyable stay. We have made many friends over the years. It is not in my nature to be rude and angry and I deny the allegation that I was. On checking in to the accommodation I asked you to contact me if there was anything you needed or wanted to know - had you contacted me regarding these matters they could have been easily resolved.
