Ark Hotel, Kyoto

Clean, tidy hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Reasonable amount of English language. Small rooms and bed though (similar to all of our Japan accomodation however).

I can't fault the staff

Pros: The staff
Cons: - individual air-conditioning for the room - non smoking rooms
Location: If you walk about 20mins towards the river there is lots of wonderful food etc.
I can't fault the staff, they were friendly and helpful as they could be. The room was clean but smelt like stale smoking no amount of airing out could shake, the heating was way too hot and couldn't be adjusted to be cooled. We had to sleep with the window open and being next to a station we barley slept all night.
