Koh Lanta offers rugged mountains surrounding a spectacular coastline, with plenty of space to find your own relaxing area of sand and enjoy the sun. The most popular beaches are in the north of the island, where tourists arrive at Ban Saladan's ferry pier before heading to Klong Dao Beach or Klong Nin Beach. If you're looking for somewhere completely remote, all you need to do is head south and enjoy as the atmosphere gets even mellower.

There are a huge variety of reefs to snorkel around Koh Lanta, so grab your mask and fins and jump in to explore the underwater wonderland. Scuba diving here is fantastic, where the limestone structures, coral reefs and underwater pinnacles draw unique marine life into the area. The nearby dive sites of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang are in the world's top ten spots, and are best known for their regular manta ray sightings and frequent whale shark visits.

On the southernmost tip of the island, you can explore Koh Lanta National Marine Park. It's a nature lover’s paradise with over 100 species of birds and other local wildlife calling this area home. Nothing is more spectacular than taking a walk through the pristine jungle. Continue on to the lighthouse standing on the southern cliff face, and with its fantastic panoramic view you have the ideal spot for a great photo.

See how the tribe of sea gypsies live on the east side of the island. Walking through their small village, you can get a taste of the local life a fisherman. Discover an interesting mix of culture, and try the best seafood on the island (with prices that will make you want to stay forever!). Don't leave without purchasing some unique craft items, handmade hammocks or traditional art, or simply take in the beauty of the wooden shop houses, which are all over a hundred years old.
