    Pocket Guide: Detroit

Our selection of Detroit Hotels are ideally located within the key areas of the city.

Known as the world's traditional automotive center "Detroit" is the traditional home of the American automobile industry and an important source of popular music. This history has led to the city's two familiar nicknames, The Motor City and Motown. Live music has been a prominent feature of Detroit's nightlife since the late 1940s with locally produced artists ranging from the likes of Aretha Franklin to Alice Cooper and Eminem. The metropolitan area has two nationally prominent live music venues, the DTE Energy Music Theatre and The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Alternative forms of entertainment include a number of great sports teams - including the Detroit Pistons (NBA), The Lions (NFL) The Red Wings (NHL) and the Tigers (MLB) – and more conventional tourist attractions such as the Motown Historical Museum and the Dotty-Wotty-House (part of the Heidelberg project).
